COLUMBUS, Ohio -- USC junior right-hander Ian Kennedy has been named to the 2006 National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association Preseason All-America first team. He went 12-3 last season with a 2.54 ERA, recording 158 strikeouts in 117 innings against just 38 walks.

Kennedy was a 2005 All-America first team selection and named Pac-10 Conference Pitcher of the Year. He helped USC reach its fifth NCAA Super Regional in seven years and also pitched with the U.S. National Team for the second consecutive summer.

USC begins its 2006 campaign on Friday (Feb. 3) at Long Beach State with a 6:30 p.m. game at Blair Field in Long Beach.
