This Week -- The third-ranked USC men's tennis team (16-2, 3-0 Pac-10) -- enjoying its most successful regular-season campaign in 10 years -- looks to keep the streak alive as it resumes Pac-10 play this week in the Pacific Northwest. The Trojans face No. 18 Washington (13-6, 3-1 Pac-10) on Friday, April 9, at 1:30 p.m. in Seattle, then travel to No. 46 Oregon (9-7, 1-3 Pac-10) on Saturday, April 10 , for a 1 p.m. match in Eugene. This week's matches will count against conference records.
Best Since 1994 -- The last time USC headed into the last two weeks of the regular season with only two losses was in 1994. That season, the Trojans were 16-1 with four matches remaining. USC eventually captured the 1994 NCAA Championship with a 22-3 record.
Five-Week Stay In Top 5 -- By moving up to No. 3 this week, USC has now spent five straight weeks in the top 5. This ties the longest stay for the Trojans since the 2002 season.
Trojans On A Roll -- Since falling to 10th-ranked Duke on March 11, the Trojans have won eight straight matches, all against ranked teams.
ITA Ranking Updates -- The Trojans moved to No. 3 in this week's ITA rankings released on April 6. Five of USC's singles players are ranked, including No. 23 Adriano Biasella, No. 73 Johan Berg, No. 83 Jamil Al-Agba, No. 94 Drew Hoskins and No. 95 Ruben Torres. In doubles, Daniel Langre and Drew Hoskins moved to No. 12.
Key Notes -- USC is 9-2 this season against top 25 teams. *** Three players - Jamil Al-Agba, Adriano Biasella and Ruben Torres - boast a team-best 7-1 record against Pac-10 opponents. *** USC has utilized 20 different doubles pairings this season (17 in dual matches), but 12th-ranked Daniel Langre and Drew Hoskins remain a consistent presence and own the team's best record at 11-3.
USC vs. Washington -- The Trojans are 17-1 all-time against the Huskies. Last season, USC endured its first-ever loss to Washington by falling 4-2 in Los Angeles. The Trojans beat the Huskies, 5-2, in their last trip to Seattle in 2002.
USC vs. Oregon -- USC is 9-0 all-time against Oregon. The series began in 1972 but the teams have consistently faced each other for the last seven seasons. Last year, the Trojans defeated the Ducks 6-1 in Los Angeles. USC won 4-3 in its last trip to Eugene in 2002.
