University Park, Pa. - Defending national champion Lewis defeated Southern California in five games (26-30, 22-30, 30-28, 30-20, 15-12) Saturday night in State College, Pa. The Trojans fall to 2-10 while the Flyers improve to 6-5.
USC was led by Blake Tippett with 18 kills as Joao Grangeiro and Pedro Leal chipped in 16 and 15, respectively. J.T. Gilmour directed the offense with 53 assists and Grangeiro recorded a match-high 16 digs.
Lewis won the blocking battle, 21.5 to 9.0, as Chris McKniff posted seven blocks for the Trojans.
