USC freshman diver Michael Hilde won the Pac-10 title on the platform and junior teammate Ray Vincent, the defending champ in the event, was second on the final day of competition at the Pac-10 Diving Championships on Saturday (Feb. 28) in Federal Way, Wash.
Hilde, second on 3-meter on Friday, won the platform with 513.00 while Vincent was second with 470.50. Cal junior Louie Gagnet was third (469.50). All three divers are products of the Mission Viejo Nadadores program and grew up training and competing alongside each other.
"It feels good to win my first Pac-10 title," said Hilde. "It gives me confidence going into the NCAA Zones. I've grown up competing against a lot of these guys and know that the competition was good. Competing and winning against such tough competition is good. It gives me a lot of confidence."
Hilde's USC freshman teammate Kenny Jenkins was fifth with 441.60.
