Sandeno Wins Three Races In USC Loss At UCLA

Junior Kaitlin Sandeno won three races and freshman Kalyn Keller won twice, but it wasn't enough as No. 11 USC fell at No. 7 UCLA, 211.5-88.5 in Westwood on Saturday (Feb. 14).
The loss ended USC's streak of 10 consecutive dual-meet wins against the Bruins. UCLA also secured five points in the battle for the 2003-04 Lexus Gauntlet. The Lexus Gauntlet is a season-long competition between USC and UCLA in all sports.
In a meet competed in short course yards, Sandeno won the 100 fly (53.61), 200 fly (1:55.23) and 200 IM (2:03.11). Sandeno's time in the 200 fly was just off the USC record of 1:55.08 (Michala Kwasny). Both of her fly times were NCAA automatic marks.
Keller won both the 500 free (4:47.86) and the 1650 free (16:12.06), the former an NCAA automatic.
Junior Joanna Fargus was second in the 100 back (56.75) and third in the 200 back (2:01.73).
USC is next in action at the Pac-10 Championships, Feb. 26-28, in Long Beach, Calif.
