LOS ANGELES -- Kealani Kimball had 15 kills to lead No. 15 Loyola Marymount to a 3-0 (30-21, 30-22, 30-26) victory over Cal State Northridge in the first round of the 2003 NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament Friday at USC's Lyon Center.
Loyola Marymount improved to 26-6, while Cal State Northridge ended its season at 16-13. Kelli Nerison added 11 kills and 7 blocks for the Lions, while teammate Dina Debernardi had 8 kills and Tiana Newsome had 7 blocks.
For CSUN, Jennifer Fopma had 18 kills and Jen Ryan added 10.
Loyola Marymount dominated the match, outhitting the Matadors .316 to .154 and getting 14.5 team blocks while CSUN didn't register a block.
Loyola Maramount will play the winner of the USC/New Hampshire match on Saturday (Dec. 6) at 6 pm in the second round at USC's Lyon Center.
