UCLA Defeats USC, 9-7, In Men's Water Polo

LOS ANGELES - Peter Belden and Michael March scored in the first overtime period and the UCLA Bruins defeated the USC Trojans, 9-7, in the fifth-place match at the 2002 So-Cal Tournament held at McDonald's Swim Stadium. March led the Bruins with three goals while goalie Brandon Brooks recorded 13 saves, including three in both overtime periods.

UCLA (3-2) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period before USC (6-2) rallied to tie the match on a goal by Jaraj Zatovic at 1:58 of the fourth quarter at 7-7.

Zatovic led the Trojans with three goals on the afternoon.

USC will open Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play next Saturday (Sept. 21) at Long Beach State.
