Trojans Volleyball Drops MPSF Decision To Irvine, 3-0

IRVINE, Calif. - The No. 9 UC Irvine men's volleyball team swept USC, 30-26, 30-5, 30-20, in an MPSF match at Irvine on Wednesday (Feb. 6), handing the Trojans their fifth consecutive loss.
Troy fell to 4-8 overall--its worst start in program history--and 1-5 in the MPSF . The Anteanters, who beat USC for the third time in a row, upped their record to 7-4 and 3-3.
USC hit only .141 while UCI was at .324 and UCI had 14 blocks to USC's 5.5.
Brook Billings and Mark Dusharme each had a team-best 9 kills, with Dusharme hitting .400. Ian Gallagher hit .357 with 8 kills.
For UCI, Jarrett Jensen had a match-best 10 kills and hit .500, while Jimmy Pelzel had 9 kills and Kyle Weichert had a match-high 7 blocks.
USC next goes to top-ranked UCLA for a 7 p.m. MPSF match on Saturday (Feb. 9).
