STOCKTON, Calif. - Coming off a victory over #1 Pepperdine on Thursday, the Pacific Tigers men's volleyball team continued its winning way on Saturday, Feb. 23 with a 3-1 victory over USC. Game scores of the match were 30-15, 30-24, 25-30, and 30-25. The win moves Pacific to 5-11 on the season and 3-9 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, while the Trojans fell to 5-12 overall and 2-9 in the MPSF.
Pacific jumped out on the Trojans early in the first game as the Tigers ran off seven straight points to take a 15-5 lead. The Tigers stretched that lead to 15 points as they breezed on to a 30-15 in game one. Leading 20-18 in game two, Pacific forced from three consecutive errors from the Trojans to take control of the game at 23-18.
After dropping the third game of the match, the Tigers took a 27-25 lead into the final moments of the match. Pacific finished the match with three consecutive points.
Three Tigers finished the match with double-digit kills led by Aaron Wachtfogel (Redondo Beach, Calif.) with 19 kills. Dan Hoefer (Goleta, Calif.) and Martin Berntsen (Naustdal, Norway) finished with 16 and 14 kills, respectively. The Trojans were led by Brook Billings, who had a game-high 20 kills.
