Women's Water Polo Falls to Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. -- The No. 3 USC women's water polo team split its two matches Saturday in the first day of the 2002 Stanford Invitational. The Women of Troy opened with a 10-7 win against UC Santa Barbara with Katrin Dierolf leading the way with four goals.
USC fell in the second match, 8-5, to No. 1 Stanford. Sofia Konoukh led the Women of Troy with two goals as the Cardinal took the lead thanks to three goals in the second and third periods.
The Women of Troy will continue play on Sunday against UC Davis. If USC wins that match, the team will play the winner of the Cal-Massachusetts match for third place.
