USC Head Coach Mick Haley
Opening statement:
Very happy with our play in this match, I thought we fired on all cylinders...Our serving was exceptionally good, our setters really controlled the offense...I thought our team brought their "A" game.
On their serving:
We made a few more serving errors than we normally do, but our serving was so aggressive that it was hard to ask the to back off. They really were attacking the opponent, you like to have your team do that.
On facing Pepperdine or UCSB:
Both are exceptionally good teams. I think the next match (tonight) is going to be a great match to watch. It is kind of big and powerful against quick, great defense and transition, it should be really fun. I don't have a preference, except maybe it goes five and they beat each other up.
USC Outside Hitter April Ross
On teams preparing for their style of play: When we come up against teams that have not seen us. Say they have a half hour of video to prepare for us, I don't think that is adequate because we have so many hitters and you cannot just adjust to that in the game.
Michigan State Head Coach Chuck Erbe
Opening Statement:
USC is a very physical team, very consistent, they make you pay for your errors. One of the most physical collegiate teams I've seen in my coaching career. I'm very proud of my team to get to this level and play ourselves into the Sweet 16.
On playing the #1 Seed:
Does create competitive anxiety...part of their growth experience. This gives you an idea of what you need to play at this level...part of the athletic education.
Chances of USC winning it all:
They have an excellent chance, they have recruited well....physical size rivals a lot of national teams. They have a great shot.
