USC Men's Volleyball Loses to Pepperdine in UCI Tourney

Irvine, CA - The Pepperdine men's volleyball team topped USC, 3-1 in the first match of the UCI/Wyndham West Coast Challenge hosted by UC Irvine.
The Waves improve to 3-1 on the season, while USC is now 1-1.
Pepperdine dominated the match, out-blocking USC 17-3 and out-hitting the Trojans .449 to .118.
Sean Rooney led the Waves with 17 kills, hitting .556 (17-2-27) for the match. He also added a team-high 10 digs. Lance Walker totaled 14 kills followed by Brad Keenan who recorded 13 kills and 10 block assists. Fred Winters tallied 10 kills and six block assists in the win. Beau Daniels had 50 set assists, while Chris Van Reusen had seven kills in nine attempts for a .778 hitting percentage.
Brook Billings was the lone offensive force for the Trojans, leading USC with 18 kills. Mark Dusharme added nine kills, while Peter Jordan had a match-high 13 digs.
UC Irvine and UCLA will meet in the evening match beginning at 7:20 p.m.
