USC Loses To Pepperdine

Senior outside hitter Scott Wong recorded a match-high 21 kills to lead Pepperdine to a five-game victory over USC in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) match Tuesday evening at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu. The Waves won by scores of 27-30, 30-24, 25-30, 30-26, 18-16. The win snapped a three-match losing streak and improved Pepperdine to 13-6 overall and 8-6 in the MPSF. USC fell to 10-6 on the season and 9-6 in MPSF play. Junior outside hitter Lance Walker contributed 16 kills and hit .419 for the match, while freshman outside hitter Fred Winters totaled 11 kills and eight service errors for the Waves.
Pepperdine hit .272 for the match, including a .412 hitting percentage in the fifth game. USC finished the match with a .232 hitting percentage. Brook Billings led USC's attack as he recorded a team-high 22 kills and 13 digs. Eli Fairfield added 16 kills for the Trojans.
Pepperdine closes out its regular season home schedule on Tuesday, March 27, when it hosts UC Irvine at Firestone Fieldhouse beginning at 7 p.m.
