LOS ANGELES - USC junior diver Kellie Brennan has been named Pacific-10 Conference Diver of the Year while freshman teammate Nicci Fusaro has been named Newcomer of the Year and Trojan second-year coach Hongping Li has been named Coach of the Year, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Brennan, a junior from Huntington Beach, Calif., won the one and three-meter events at the Pac-10 Championships. With the one-meter win, she became only the second diver in Pac-10 history to win the event three consecutive years. She also placed fourth in the platform diving event. Brennan is an All-American diver and a U.S. National Team member. She is a double NCAA finalist from 2000.
Fusaro, a freshman from Cincinnati, Ohio, and three-time prep All-American, placed two top-three finishes at the Pac-10 Championships. She took second in the one-meter and third in the three-meter events. She placed seventh in the platform.
Li helped lead the Trojans to two Pac-10 Individual titles and six top-eight finishes, the wins by the aforementioned Brennan. The USC swimming and diving team took third overall at the Pac-10s. The Women's Coach of the Year award in the first of Li's career.
The Conference awards are voted on by the coaches.
