LOS ANGELES - USC senior outside hitter Eli Fairfield was named the AVCA/Sports Imports Division I-II National Player of the Week for pacing the Trojans to a 2-0 record on the road against a pair of top 15 teams.
Fairfield averaged 4.71 kills, 1.00 blocks, 2.57 digs and 0.43 service aces per game while attacking at a .426 clip against fourth-ranked Stanford and No. 11 Pacific.
He contributed 20 kills, eight digs, three blocks and two aces against Stanford in a 3-1 victory. Fairfield, who also earned the national player of the week once as a junior, chalked up 13 kills on 25 attempts as part of a .480 attack percentage in a sweep of Pacific. He added 10 digs and four blocks against the Tigers. Fairfield, a former USA Volleyball National Junior Team member in 1998, totaled 33 kills on 61 attempts during the seven games last week.
