LOS ANGELES - Sophomore Nina Wengst (Krefeld, Germany) scored four goals to lead the No. 4 USC women's water polo team to a 10-7 victory over No. 14 Loyola Marymount on Wednesday (April 5) in a non-conference match at McDonald's Swim Stadium.
Sophomore Aniko Pelle (Budapest, Hungary) added three goals for the Women of Troy and junior Jennifer Durley (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) scored twice. Loyola Marymount was led by five goals by sophomore Lucy Windes.
USC led 3-1 after the first period and shut out the Lions in the second, taking a 5-1 lead at the half. Loyola Marymount got to within 6-3 with 2:49 to go in the third period on a Windes goal but USC responded with a 3-0 run to take a 9-3 lead with 4:28 left to play.
The Lions came back with three consecutive goals and closed the gap to 9-6 with 2:14 left on another Windes goal, but could get no closer.
