Varsity 8 Sweeps Competition At Stanford Invitational

BELMONT, Calif. -- USC women's rowing capped off the regular season schedule with dual races against Washington State and Kansas on Saturday, April 29, at the Stanford Invitational held at Redwood Shores. The ninth-ranked Trojans swept all but two races throughout the day's events.
USC began the morning session placing first in both Varsity Eight races. The Trojans finished an average of four seconds ahead of the Cougars (6:41.00, 6:44.03) in each outing. Despite winning the first two events, USC came in nearly 40 seconds behind Washington State in the Varsity Fours. The Novice boat also finished behind the Cougars by 33 seconds in a three-way race with Stanford.
USC posted two more wins in the afternoon session against Kansas. The Varsity Eight I and II boats defeated the Jayhawks by three and two-second margins (6:37.07, 6:36.98).
The Trojans will return to action on Sunday, May 14, at the Pac-10 Championships held at Lake Natoma in Folsom, Calif.
