PALO ALTO, Calif. - Eli Fairfield had 29 kills while hitting .400 and Brook Billings added 27 kills while hitting .327 to lead the No. 3-ranked USC men's volleyball team to a 15-13, 13-15, 15-4, 15-10 victory over No. 13 Stanford in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Friday (March 31) in Palo Alto.
USC--which has clinched a berth in the MPSF tournament--improved to 17-4 overall and 12-3 in the MPSF, while the Cardinal fell to 8-10 overall and 7-8 in the MPSF.
Trevor Julian added 22 kills while hitting a match-high .613 for the Trojans, while teammates Beau Rawi and Mark Dusharme each had 14 kills (Rawi hit .417 and Dusharme .600). Donald Suxho had a match-high 12 digs, Billings and Fairfield posted 11 digs, and Rawi had a match-best 9 blocks
For Stanford, Curt Toppel had a match-best 32 kills.
Troy outhit Stanford, .442 to .323 and served more aces (10 to 3).
USC plays at No. 15 Pacific on Saturday (April 1) in another MPSF contest.
