Varsity 8 Sweeps By Texas, San Diego State

Wilmington, Calif.-- The fourth-ranked USC women's rowing team won two of four races Saturday (March 25) against the University of Texas and San Diego State at the Los Angeles Harbor.
The Trojans were led by a convincing performance from the Varsity Eight boat in the third race of the day. USC finished in 6:41.4, nearly nine seconds ahead of second-place San Diego State for the largest margin of victory in all four races.
Prior to the varsity race, USC's JV Eight came in first in a time of 6:59.6. Texas followed in 7:05.3, while the Aztecs finished last in 7:13.2.
The Longhorns' novice boats shined at the three-team regatta, capturing the first and final races of the day. The Texas Novice Eights posted a time of 7:25.8, ahead of the Aztecs (7:30.9) and Trojans (7:54.6). To complete the days events, the Longhorns' Novice Fours raced to a 8:10.0 first-place finish, ahead of San Diego State (8:16.0), and USC (8:22.3).
The Trojans return to action on Saturday, April 1, to compete at the prestigious San Diego Crew Classic in Mission Bay.
