USC senior Bret Awbrey was named to the 2000 Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic first team for men's swimming and diving, headlining a group of 14 USC men's and women's swimmers who earned first team, second team or honorable mention honors.
For Awbrey, it marked the third consecutive time he earned first team honors. He is an industrial systems and engineering major with a 3.60 GPA.
Sophomores Ahmad Al-Kudmani (3.23, mechanical engineering), Joe Curreri (3.28, history) and Jay Sayko (3.48, communications) all earned Pac-10 All-Academic second team honors.
On the women's side, three swimmers earned second team honors. They were seniors Emily Ayers (3.47, psychology) and Paige Francis (3.17, communications) and junior Karen Jacobs (3.57, American literature).
USC also posted seven women's swimmers on the honorable mention list. They were Hillary Biscay (3.33, American literature), Carolyn Conrad (3.05, communications), Alexis Lyon (3.06, communications), Kristin MacGregor (3.01, communications), Kelly McPherson (3.08, exercise science), Corrie Murphy (3.17, communications), Haley Thompson (3.17).
