LOS ANGELES - The USC women's water polo finished fourth at the UC Santa Barbara Tournament (Feb. 26-27). The Trojans went 2-2 and are now 11-3 overall in the 2000 season.
USC beat Redlands, 16-2, and Hawai'i, 12-5, on the first day of the tournament. Julie Henn and Jennifer Durley scored three goals each in the win over Redlands while Durley, Selah Mapes and Katrin Dierolf scored two goals each in the Hawai'i match.
USC lost to Cal, 9-8, on the second day. Cal, the eventual tournament champions, had a three-goal lead after three periods and held off a fourth-period rally by the Trojans. The third-place match pitted the Trojans against the No. 1 UCLA Bruins. After a 10-3 loss earlier in the season, the Trojans looked for some revenge, but 10 second-half goals by the Bruins led to the 15-12 victory.
The Trojans will host San Jose State on Thursday (March 2) at 1:30 p.m. and Stanford on Friday (March 3) at 1 p.m. in MPSF matches at McDonald's Swim Stadium.
