Men's Swimming Falls To Stanford

LOS ANGELES - The No. 5 Stanford men's swimming and diving team edged No. 6 USC, 128-115 in the Trojans' final Pac-10 dual meet of the season on Saturday (Feb. 5) at the USC McDonald's Swim Stadium.
USC fell to 5-2, 2-2 while Stanford improved to 5-3, 2-1.
Among USC's winners were freshman Erik Vendt in the 800m free (8:01.27) and 400m free (3:50.02, NCAA consideration), junior Gabe Woodward in the 50m free (22.71, NCAA consideration) and the 100m free (50.12, NCAA consideration), Tamas Kerekjarto in the 200m IM (1:59.68, NCAA consideration) and junior Ryosuke Imai in the 200m breast (2:13.98, NCAA consideration).
The Trojans also won the opening 400m medley relay as the team of junior Leonardo Costa, Imai, sophomore Nick Kaschik and Woodward won in 3:39.28 (NCAA consideration).
Stanford winners included John Waters in the 200m free (1:49.55), Steven Brown in the 200m fly (1:57.56) and Randall Ball in the 200 back (1:57.01). Stanford won the final relay of the meet, taking the 400m free relay in 3:19.67 to USC's 3:20.99
The USC men are next in action March 2-4 at the Pac-10 Championships in Seattle, Wash.
