Women's Water Polo Finishes Third In UCSD Tourney

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The top-ranked USC women's water polo team finished third at the UC San Diego Invitational on Sunday (Feb. 13), beating No. 2 Stanford, 5-4, in the third place game after being upset by UCLA, 10-3, earlier in the day.
After leading the Bruins 2-1 after the first quarter, USC surrendered 6 unanswered goals in the second and third quarters. UCLA went on to beat California, 6-5, in the championship match.
The Women of Troy outscored Stanford 2-1 in the fourth quarter to win the third place match.
Aniko Pelle and Nina Wengst were named to the All-Tournament team.
