USC Sweeps Day Two Of UCSD Invite

SAN DIEGO - USC and Stanford appear to be headed for a showdown between the nation's number-one and two teams, as each team remained unbeaten in the first major tournament of the 2000 women's water polo season. Top-ranked USC defeated Long Beach State, 14-8, and Cal, 7-5, while the second-ranked Cardinal topped UC San Diego, 14-1, and UCLA, 5-3. Host UC San Diego continued to struggle, adding a 9-2 loss to UC San Barbara to the Stanford setback. The Tritons remain winless at 0-7.
The tournament concludes Sunday with nine more contests. The first game is at 8:00 am and the Championship game is set for 5:20 pm.
