LOS ANGELES - The USC men?s and women?s swimming and diving teams, both 1-1, resume the dual-meet season when they host UC Santa Barbara on Friday (Jan. 7) at USC McDonald?s Swim Stadium at 1 p.m.
Both USC squads have been highlighted early by a pair of freshmen phenoms in Erik Vendt and Michala Kwasny.
Vendt currently possesses USC?s top times in the 500-yard free (4:20.48), the 1000-yard free (8:55.41), the 1650-yard free (14:54.30) and the 400-yard IM (3:54.59). His time in the 1650 set a USC McDonald?s Stadium pool record and is the top in the nation this year.
Vendt also set a pair of school records at the 1999 U.S. Open in the 400-meter IM (LC) in 4:24.59 and in the 800-meter free (LC) in 8:09.51.
Kwasny owns USC?s top times on the women?s side in the 200-yard IM (1:59.37), the 400-yard IM (4:14.31) and the 200-yard fly (1:59.09). Her time in the 200-yard IM is also a pool record and the top in the nation this year.
