LOS ANGELES - USC senior setter Janice Mounts, senior outside hitter Jennifer Kessy and senior middle blocker Jasmina Marinkovic, all integral parts of the women's volleyball team's success this season, were named to the 1998 AVCA All-District VIII first team, announced Thursday (Dec. 10). The Women of Troy, who were 24-5 heading into the East Region semifinals at Florida, were the only team to have three players on the District VIII first team. It is the third selection for Marinkovic, the second for Kessy and the first for Mounts.
Marinkovic, a 1997 All-American first team selection, leads USC in hitting percentage (.353), is second in kills (472) and first in blocks (128). She is USC's all-time leader in total blocks and block assists and is second on the solo block chart. She is also third on USC's career kill list and seventh in attacks.
Kessy leads USC with 540 kills (a USC season record) and 320 digs. She is first on the Women of Troy's all-time career kill chart (1,785) and is fourth in digs (1,255)
Mounts is USC's all-time leader in assists and her assist average is also an all time best at Troy. Her 1998 totals of 1,437 assists at an average of 15.13 per game are also USC records.
