Women's Water Polo Wins 12th Straight Game

LOS ANGELES - Freshman utility Aniko Pelle scored four goals to lead the No. 1 USC women's water polo team to an 11-6 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation victory over No. 12 Pacific on Monday afternoon in the Women of Troy's 1999 home finale at the McDonald's Swim Stadium.
USC (18-1 overall, 6-1 MPSF) extended its school-record winning streak to 12 games. The Women of Troy have also scored 10 or more goals in six straight games. Pacific dropped to 6-13, 0-8.
Pelle scored three goals as USC jumped out to a 6-0 lead early in the second quarter. Junior utility Ericka Richards finally got the Tigers on the board with a goal at 5:14 in the second period. At halftime, the Women of Troy held an 8-2 advantage.
USC led 11-3 in the fourth quarter before Pacific scored the game's final three goals.
USC freshman driver Christine Zador added two goals. Junior 2-meter player Molly Smith led the Tigers with three goals.
The Women of Troy close the regular season at San Jose State (April 2) and Stanford (April 3) this weekend.
