Women's Water Polo Ranked No. 1

LOS ANGELES - The USC women's water polo team, coming off a first-place finish at the UC San Diego Tournament, earned its first-ever No. 1 ranking today when the Collegiate Top 20 poll was released by U.S. Water Polo.

The Women of Troy (5-0) defeated No. 2 California and No. 4 UCLA for the first time ever at the tournament, which was held Feb. 12-14. Entering the weekend, USC was ranked No. 3, the previous high ranking for the program.

The women's water polo team, now in its fifth year of existence, placed fifth at the national championships last year.

USC next faces No. 11 UC Santa Barbara on Saturday (Feb. 20) at noon in Santa Barbara.
