Women's Water Polo Loses for First Time

LOS ANGELES - The No. 2 California women's water polo team scored the final three goals of the game and edged No. 1 USC, 6-5, on Friday evening, spoiling the Women of Troy's 1999 home opener at McDonald's Swim Stadium.
USC fell to 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. Cal avenged their only loss of the season and improved to 6-1, 1-0.
Freshman utility Sandra Milicev's goal with 6:01 to go in the game gave USC a 5-3 lead, but the Golden Bears rallied and went ahead on freshman driver Brenna Fleener's goal with 2:22 to play. USC missed on its few final opportunities.
USC next competes at the UC Santa Barbara Tournament this weekend (Feb. 27-28).
