STOCKTON, Calif. - The Trojans split the first day of the round-robin action at the Mountain Pacific Women's Water Polo Tournament Friday in Stockton, California. USC suffered a 9-6 loss to California in their first game, but came back with an exciting, last minute win over Hawaii in the day's finale.
USC trailed Cal 8-2 going into the final quarter. Despite scoring four goals, the Trojans were unable to overcome the lead. Colette Glinkowski led the Golden Bears with a match-high three goals. Bernice Orwig had 8 saves for the Trojans.
The final game saw USC upset the University of Hawaii 6-5. Nicole Martin scored the game-winning goal with 1:40 remaining to even the Trojans at 1-1 for the tournament. Neither team held a lead greater than one goal throughout the match.
