BERKELEY, Calif. - Sophomore outside hitter Antoinette Polk had a career-high 21 kills and nine digs to pace the USC volleyball team's victory (10-15, 15-10, 15-12, 15-12) over California on Sunday.
The Women of Troy improved their overall record to 5-3 and their Pacific-10 Conference record to 1-1 with the win over the Bears. Cal fell to 3-7, 0-2. USC now leads 25-6 in the all-time series between the two teams, not losing to the Bears since September of 1991.
Other leaders for USC were senior middle blocker Jasmina Marinkovic with 16 kills and seven blocks and senior outside hitter Jennifer Kessy with 16 kills and 13 digs. The Women of Troy had a .320 hitting percent while Cal had a .216 hitting percentage.
USC will play its first home match at the North Gym on Friday (Sept. 25) vs. Oregon State at 6 p.m., then hosts Oregon on Sunday (Sept. 27) at 11 a.m.
