Women's Swimming Places Second at the Pac-10 Championships

LOS ANGELES - USC senior All-American Lindsay Benko won her third title in as many nights to highlight the Women of Troy's performance at the 1999 Pacific-10 Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in Federal Way, Wash, Saturday night.
USC men's diver Justin Dumais, a sophomore All-American, also captured his third title, winning the platform event during the Pac-10 Men's Diving Championships, being held in conjunction with the women's meet.
Benko entered the final day of the competition with wins in the 200 and 500 freestyles. She won the 200 backstroke in a season's best time of 1:56.62, finishing just ahead of Stanford's Catherine Fox (1:56.76.
Dumais, the defending champion in all three diving specialties, successfully defended all three events, completing the hat trick by winning the platform with 823.95 points.
USC seniors Karen Campbell and Nora Zhong both finalled in the 200 butterfly, taking sixth (2:02.11) and seventh (2:02.52) respectively.
USC freshman Kristen MacGregor and Katie Meyer reached the finals of the 200 breast and 200 back, respectively.
MacGregor took fourth in 2:14.04 and Meyer was eighth in 1:59.52. Fellow freshman Amy Migawa finished seventh in the 1650 free (10:49.08) in a timed finals.
The Men's Pac-10 Championships begin Thursday at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach.
