BERKELEY, CA - The No. 7 California women's swim team (10-2, 3-1 in the Pac-10 Conference) upset No. 5 USC (5-1, 2-1 in the Pac-10 Conference), 170-130, Friday afternoon at Spieker Pool.
The Bears captured 10 of 14 swimming events and were led by senior Marylyn Chiang who won three individual events, including the 100 (55.70) and 200 back (2:00.07) and the 100 fly (53.75).
Other leaders for the Bears were junior Anya Kolbisen and freshman Joscelin Yeo. Kolbisen captured the 100 (50.74) and 200 free (1:49.32), while Yeo won the 200 fly (2:00.17) and the 200 IM (2:02.48). The Trojans were led by freshman Kristin MacGregor, who placed first in the 100 (1:03.19) and 200 breast (2:16.33).
The Bears next host No. 17 UCLA tomorrow at noon at Spieker Pool in Berkeley.
