Women's Hoops Beats ASU, 67-54

TEMPE, Ariz. - Senior center Adrain Williams scored 22 points to lift the USC women's basketball team to a 67-54 victory at Arizona State in the 1999 Pacific-10 Conference opener on Saturday.

USC improved to 5-5 overall and won for just the second time in its last seven games. ASU fell to 6-4.

Williams added eight rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Freshman guard Tiffany Elmore had 11 points and eight rebounds, sophomore forward Tashara Carter had 10 points, 10 rebounds and six steals and junior forward Tiffany Washington had 10 points, 10 rebounds and six steals.

The Sun Devils were led by Kristine Sand's 20 points.

USC fared well defensively, forcing 28 turnovers and holding ASU to a 41.2 shooting percentage.

The Women of Troy visit Arizona on Monday (Jan. 4) at 7 p.m.
