Women of Troy Reach MPSF Championship Game

WESTWOOD, Calif. - The No. 1 USC women's water polo team posted a big pair of victories on Saturday afternoon at the MPSF Championships at UCLA, lifting the Women of Troy into Sunday's championship game.

USC defeated Long Beach State, 10-6, and host UCLA, 7-5, and will meet California for the conference title on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Senior goalie Bernice Orwig was the story in the win against the Bruins, recording a career-high 18 saves. USC took a 5-2 lead at the half, but UCLA pulled to within one goal in the fourth quarter, 5-4. USC would score the next two goals and go on for the win. Aniko Pelle and Nina Wengst each scored two goals.

Earlier in the day, Pelle scored three goals in the win against Long Beach State.

USC is now 24-1 overall and has won 18 games in a row.
