SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The No. 1 USC women's water polo team captured its second tournament title of the young season, winning the UC Santa Barbara Tournament on Sunday.
The Women of Troy (10-1) defeated Stanford, 7-4, in the final. It was USC's first win ever against Stanford in seven tries.
Earlier, USC defeated UCLA (7-6) in the semifinals and Cal State Bakersfield (11-2) and host UC Santa Barbara (4-3).
USC's top scorers over the weekend were junior UT Lisa Saenz (five goals), freshman 2M Nina Wengst (five goals), freshman UT Aniko Pelle (four goals) and sophomore 2M Jennifer Durley.
USC next hosts Long Beach State on Friday (March 5) at the McDonald's Swim Stadium at 5 p.m.
