Men's Volleyball Rallies Back to Beat UCSD

LOS ANGELES--Outside hitter Brook Billings had a match-high 16 kills as the USC men's volleyball team opened Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play with a 11-15, 15-6, 15-1, 15-9 victory over UC San Diego before a crowd of 150 in the North Gym on Tuesday (Jan. 19). USC improves to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the MPSF, while UC San Diego drops to 1-4 and 0-1.
For Troy, Eli Fairfield added 15 kills, while Trevor Julian had 13 kills and Omar Rawi had 10 kills and a match-best 9 blocks. Zack Hite and Bill Sinclair had 13 kills each for UC San Diego, while Ben Vernon and Devon Jeffcoat added 11 kills. The Trojans rebounded from a game one loss with commanding wins in games two and three before closing out the match in game four. Beau Rawi, Omar's brother, came into the match in game two to help turn the match around for USC. He hit .667 overall with 9 kills and 3 blocks. USC next hosts San Diego State in an MPSF match this Friday (Jan. 22) in the North Gym.
