LOS ANGELES - Behind 20 kills from Evan Thatcher and 19 kills and 7 blocks from Adam Naeve, the No. 4-ranked UCLA men's volleyball team swept past No. 9 USC, 15-5, 15-10, 15-10, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match in the USC North Gym on Wednesday (Feb. 10).
Defending NCAA champion UCLA, which has beaten the Trojans in 11 straight matches, improved to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the MPSF. USC, suffering its first MPSF loss of 1999 in 6 outings, had a 6-match winning streak snapped while falling to 6-2 overall.
Brook Billings led Troy with 15 kills, while Eli Fairfield added 13 and Craig Dennis 11. The Bruins outhit USC, .395 to .176, and combined for 22 blocks to the Trojans' 3.
USC next hosts No. 12 Loyola Marymount this Saturday at 7 p.m. in the North Gym.
