Brook Billings Named AVCA National Player of the Week

LOS ANGELES - USC freshman men's volleyball outside hitter Brook Billings today (March 16) was named the National Player of the Week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Billings had a career-best 29 kills with 8 digs and 7 blocks in USC's home win against Loyola (Chicago) last Tuesday (March 9) and, then in the victory at UC Santa Barbara last Thursday (March 11), he upped his career bests for kills (32) and also had a personal best in hitting percentage (.553).
Billings, who was the MVP of Volleyball magazines 1998 Fab 50 prep list while a senior at San Marcos High in Santa Barbara (Calif.), currently tops USC in kills (306).
USC, ranked No. 10 nationally, is participating in the IPFW Spring Fling this week in Fort Wayne, Ind., first facing Ball State on Friday (March 19) and then No. 6-ranked host Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday (March 20).
