Men's Water Polo Routs Pepperdine, 12-2

LOS ANGELES - Senior 2-meter man Peter Janov scored three goals to lead the No. 3 USC men's water polo team to a 12-2 victory over No. 7 Pepperdine in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation contest on Saturday morning at the McDonald's Swim Stadium.
USC improved to 17-3 overall and 5-1 in the MPSF, while Pepperdine dropped to 8-11, 2-5.
The Trojans excelled on their 6-on-5 opportunities, converting four of five. The Waves made just one of four.
Thanks to a pair of goals by Janov, the Trojans broke out to a 5-1 halftime lead. The Waves scored the first goal of the second half, but USC ran off the final seven points of the game.
Senior goalie Richard McEvoy made 10 saves, while sophomore utility Ivan Babic, senior 2-meter man James Castle and sophomore 2-meter man Adam Guerrero each scored two goals for the Trojans.
USC next hosts No. 4 California on Sunday (Nov. 7) at noon in a non-conference contest.
