
Women's Volleyball Earns Ninth Straight NCAA Bid

LOS ANGELES -- The 14th-ranked USC Women of Troy volleyball team (20-8, 13-5 Pac-10) received its ninth consecutive bid to the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship and will be making its 16th overall appearance. USC has also been selected to host the first and second rounds on Friday, Dec. 3 through Saturday, Nov. 4, at the USC Lyon Center.
The Trojans are a top-16 seed in the Central Region and will face America East Conference automatic qualifier Hofstra (26-5) in the first round. Led by Pac-10 Coach of the Year Jerritt Elliot, the Women of Troy defeated James Madison, 3-0, and fell to No. 8 UC Santa Barbara, 3-0, last week (Nov. 26-27) at the LBSU Thanksgiving Tournament.
Sacramento State (22-9) and Minnesota (25-8) will face each other in the first round match on Friday at 5 p.m. The USC-Hofstra match will follow at 7 p.m., or 30 minutes following the end of the first contest.
The two winners advance to the second round and will meet on Saturday at 6 p.m. The winner of the second round advances to the Sweet Sixteen to be played December 9-12 at campus sites.
