Women's Rowing Earns Second Title This Season

NEWPORT BEACH ? USC Women?s Rowing earned their second first-place finish this year at the 1999 Newport Autumn Rowing Festival in Newport Beach, Calif. last weekend (Saturday, November 7). Capturing the victory, the women?s eight team defeated local teams including UCLA, UC Santa Barbara and San Diego State.
With a time of 15:53, Lisa Bartoli, Suzanne Rosso, Marketa Vochoskova, Zoe Hoskins, Amber Buhl, Alzbeta Lorinczova, Emma Graglia, Jeanne Delapoyade and April Hudlett captured the women?s open eight race title. Trailing by only 14 seconds (16:07), USC?s ?A? boat, consisting of Jenny Huffman, Amelia White, Annelisa Gross, Amy Pearce, Rebecca Moneymaker Natasha Reilly, Katie Sadalski, Giovanna Imbesi and Janece Rittenbery, posted a second place finish in the race.
In the open four division, the Women of Troy finished in second place behind Sacramento State with a time of 19:44. Troy?s freshmen also competed in the novice eight division. The Trojans garnered an eighth-place finish in 21:42.
USC?s next race will be on Saturday, November 20. Varsity rowers will compete at the Stanford Fall Regatta in Stanford, Calif. Novice rowers will take on local rivals UCLA and Loyola Marymount at the Los Angeles Harbor.
