A native of Romania who was born in Russia, Sasha Bucur returns to the USC water polo coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach. He was an assistant coach on the men[apos]s water polo coaching staff from 1991-98 and worked with the women[apos]s team in its inaugural season of 1995.
Bucur was raised in Bucharest, Romania, where he began playing water polo at the age of 10. He was a member of the Romanian National Junior team and his club team won the National Club Championships three times.
Bucur came to the United States with his family in 1985 and played water polo for the New York Athletic Club team for five years (1986-90). He then came to USC to complete his master[apos]s degree in computer science.
