2023-24 SEASON:
2022-23 SEASON: Naomi Cheong’s junior season included conference academic (Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll) and athletic accolades (honorable mention) … She went 15-9 overall in singles and 7-5 in dual matches, playing primarily at the No. 5 (2-0) and No. 4 (4-5) positions … Went 23-17 overall and 14-13 in dual matches for doubles, playing mostly with partner Snow Han (13-8) … Clinched two matches for the Women of Troy (Cal, Princeton) and reached a career high ITA ranking of No. 85 … Singles finalist and doubles champion at the Milwaukee Classic.
2021-22 SEASON: Naomi Cheong had a late start to the season due to injury, but got into the action during the midst of Pac-12 play (March 11) ...Went 10-3 overall in singles and 7-2 in dual matches ... Primarily played from the No. 5 (4-0) and No. 4 (2-2) positions...In doubles, went 5-8 overall and 5-7 in dual matches ... Primarily played with Snow Han (2-4) or Grace Piper (3-3) from the No. 2 position... 2020-21 SEASON: In a shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cheong finished the season with a 9-8 overall record and a 4-4 Pac-12 record… Helped the team to reach the NCAA Round of 16…Concluded the season ranked No. 111 in the nation…Saw action from the No. 1 (1-3), No. 2 (6-2) and No. 3 (2-3) positions…Hallmark win of the season was a victory over the No. 1 player in the nation, Pepperdine’s Ashley Lahey, 6-0, 7-5 on Feb. 13…Defeated three ranked opponents…Clinched two matches for Troy (Denver and Arizona State)…Had a season-high singles ranking of 62, but began the season as the No. 10 ranked newcomer in the nation…Went 9-7 in doubles…With partner Eryn Cayetano, went 5-5 overall playing all matches from the No. 1 position…Also partnered with Summer Dvorak (3-2) and Salma Ewing (2-0)…Cheong/Ewing were ranked No. 63 in the nation On March 17.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played United States Tennis Association junior tennis tournaments until the age of 15, where she was ranked No. 1 in the Inter-Mountain USTA Section from 2014-16 and No. 2 nationally…While competing in junior tennis, she won four tournament titles (both national and international) and had six second place finishes…Was the recipient of the USTA Nevada Player of the Year Award in both 2016 and 2017… Because of her success at the junior level, she transitioned to playing professional International Tennis Federation tournaments full time in 2017…She achieved an impressive high UTR of 11.99… Has many notable professional tournament finishes including reaching the quarterfinals of the 2017 ITF Pro Circuit $100K in Tokyo, the semifinals of the 2017 ITA Pro Circuit $25K in Hamamatsu, Japan and two quarterfinal finishes of ITA Pro Circuit $25K tournament (Hamamatsu, Japan and Makinohara, Japan)… Achieved a high WTA ranking of #485.
