- Title:
- Assistant Coach
Laura Janke enters her seventh season as assistant coach at USC. A previous assistant to and former player for Ali Khosroshahin at Cal State Fullerton, Janke[apos]s responsibilities at Troy have largely involve working with the defense and goalkeepers -- an aspect of the game with which she has a considerable amount of experience. Her work with USC goalkeeper Kristin Olsen in 2007 helped push the Trojans to the 2007 NCAA Championship, as Olsen set a program record with 12 shutouts and was named a Honda Award finalist.
[quote]Laura is the glue that keeps this program running,[quote] head coach Ali Khosroshahin says of Janke. [quote]She is well on her way to becoming an excellent head coach herself. Her work with the goalkeepers is truly underappreciated by everyone on the outside, but we know what an impact she has with our keepers.[quote]
As a player at Cal State Fullerton, Janke was a four-year letterwinner and a two-time All-Big West Conference selection. She holds school career records in goalkeeper victories (24), saves (234), shutouts (13) and minutes played (4,513) and set the Titans[apos] single-season shutouts record with six in her senior year. As a sophomore, she notched 99 saves to stand No. 2 all-time in single-season saves at CSF.
Janke graduated from Cal State Fullerton in 2004 with her bachelor[apos]s degree in kinesiology and completed her master[apos]s in kinesiology in 2006.
