Ian Feuer enters his seventh year as a volunteer assistant and goalkeepers coach at USC heading into the 2020 season.
During his time with the Trojans, Feuer has helped the program make the NCAA postseason each of the last six seasons, including winning a National Championship in 2016, and has coached two Pac-12 Goalkeepers of the Year during his tenure as well (Sammy Jo Prudhomme-2016, Kaylie Collins-2018).
Feuer came to USC with a wealth of professional playing and coaching experience. He also currently owns and operates the Premier Goalkeeping Academy.
Feuer, a native of Las Vegas, moved to Belgium at 16 and graduated from V.T.I Technical Institute (high school) at the age of 17 before immediately signing with FC Brugge as one of the first Americans to play professionally in Europe. His professional playing career would span 14 years (1989-2002) and take him from the Belgian first division, to the MLS and even the English Premier League.
After five years in Belgium with Brugge and Molenbeek (loan), Feuer came back to the U.S. to play with the Los Angeles Salsa in the American Professional Soccer League for a year (1993), before signing with West Ham United in the EPL. Feuer was a reserve goalkeeper with West Ham and played on loan with Peterborough United and Luton Town, earning Keeper of the Year honors with Luton in the English Championship League. He again made a return to the states, signing with the New England Revolution in 1998 and also playing with the Colorado Rapids in 1999. After two years in the MLS (and a stint on loan with Rushden & Diamonds FC), it was back to England for the final phase of Feuer’s career as he would finish his playing days across the pond, competing for for Cardiff City (2000), West Ham United (2000), Wimbeldon (2000-02), Derby County (2001), Tranmere Rovers (2002) and finally the Wolverhampton Wanderers (2002).
Feuer also represented the U.S. Men’s National Team, making his lone cap in a friendly against Morocco. He was also with the USMNT for the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona.
Feuer would go on to coach, serving as the L.A. Galaxy’s Goalkeeping coach for 10 seasons, winning three MLS Cups with the club. He also spent time coaching with the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams, as well as the U.S. Men’s Paralympic Team. Collegiately, Feuer has worked with the Cal State Northridge and Pepperdine women’s soccer programs, before coming to USC. Feuer has a National A coaching license and has also been an instructor for U.S. Soccer “Pro A License” as well as the National A and B licensing programs.
Feuer has also made forays into the acting world, playing the Predator in the 2007 film “Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem” and serving as the soccer coordinator for the movie “Kicking and Screaming” starring Will Ferrell and Robert Duvall.
