2025: Started off the season at the Trojan Invite (Mar. 22) with a first-place finish in discus…Achieved second place in the same event at the Battle at the Beach (Apr. 4)...Set a new career record and earned gold at the Triton Invite (Apr. 5) with a distance of 55.46m in the discus…Earned first in discus and third in shot put at the USC-UCLA dual meet (May 4)...Recorded a fourth-place finish in the conference for discus at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships (May 18).
2024: Competed in six meets during the outdoor season, setting personal bests in the discus throw, shot put and hammer throw...Set her discus throw PR of 178-2 (54.32m) in placing third at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on April 27, which moved her into fifth place on USC’s all-time discus throw list...Set her shot put PR of 48-4.50 (14.74m) to place eighth and score for USC at the Pac-12 Championships on May 11...Placed 11th in the discus throw at the Pac-12 Championships and advanced to the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds in the event...Improved in the discus throw by nearly 33 feet during the season.
HIGH SCHOOL: 2023 graduate of Oak Park and River Forest High School in Oak Park, Ill...Placed second in the discus throw at the Illinois Class 3A T&F Championships with a throw of 145-7 (44.39m)...Took fifth place in the 3A shot put finals with an outdoor PR of 42-5.25 (12.93m)...Won the indoor shot put state title at the Class 3A meet with an indoor PR of 42-9.75 (13.05m)...Was awarded the female Athletic Medal from the OPRF Athletic Council for her senior season...Competed in volleyball and basketball at Oak Park and River Forest...Named the 2022 OPRFHS Homecoming Queen and was the recipient of the most athletic female award...Honor roll and Dean’s List student.
PERSONAL: Born on May 30, 2005…Parents are Amy and Ty Garland and she has two siblings, Kaden and Jaida…Kaden joins her on the USC track and field team this season...Her father was a linebacker on the Michigan State football team and was the 1993 high school shot put national champion...Her father was also her throws coach throughout high school...Hobbies outside of track and field are volleyball, baking, and spending time with friends….Favorite actor is Adam Sandler and her favorite musical artist is DaBaby…Names gold medal discus thrower Valarie Allman as her sports hero…Goal is to qualify for the Olympics…Majoring in Business USC.
