THIS YEAR:
Junior transfer Garrett Kaalund is in his first season as a sprinter on the USC track and field team, after competing at Nebraska from 2023-24.

BEFORE USC:
Kaalund is a sprinter who competed from 2023-24 at Nebraska where he posted a Nebraska school record of 20.25 (+0.4) in the 200m and a college best of 47.84 in the 400m. He was a 2024 second-team outdoor All-American in the 200m, finishing 13th with a time of 20.38 (+0.0). He ran his PR of 20.25 at the 2024 NCAA West Prelims.  He placed fourth in the 200m with a time of 20.33 (+3.1w) at the 2024 Big Ten Championships. He ran on the fourth-fastest Nebraska 4x400m relay of all-time which posted a time of 3:03.31 at the 2024 Drake Relays. Earned second-team All-America honors with Nebraska 4x100m relay which placed 15th with a time of 38.91 at the 2023 NCAA Championships. During the summer of his freshman year, he earned a silver medal in the 200m (20.57) at the 2023 Pan-American U20 Championships and another silver medal in the 200m (20.65)  at the USATF U20 Championships.  Â

HIGH SCHOOL:
Kaalund is a 2022 graduate of Antonian College Preparatory High in San Antonio, Texas. He had personal bests of 10.51 in the 100m, 20.66 in the 200m and 46.88 in the 400m. He was a member of his school’s record-setting 4x100m and 4x400m relays and set the school 200m and 400m records.Â

Garrett was born on Jan. 25, 2004 in Atlanta, Ga….His mother is Anne Kaalund…In his spare time he likes reading, writing and playing video games…Lists his favorite movie as Batman (2022) and video game as Final Fantasy 16…He watched Usain Bolt growing up and list him as his sports hero for the confidence he exudes…Favorite food is any type of chicken…Places he likes to travel to are his bed and the fridge…He is Legal Studies major at USC.
