THIS YEAR: Senior Mitchell Cameron is in his third season of competing in the distances for USC. He transferred to USC from LMU before the 2016 season.
2017: Cameron posted an 800m PR of 1:54.77 to finish sixth at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on April 30...he also placed fifth in the 1500m that day with a time of 4:10.29. Ran his only career 3000m steeplechase on April 23 at the Triton Invitational and had a time of 10:24.91. During the indoor season, he had a best 800m time of 2:01.91 which ranks ninth on USC's all-time list.
2016: Cameron was one of USC's top distance runners. He had a PR of 4:01.72 in the 1500m at the Mt. SAC Relays. He finished eighth in the 800m at the Dual Meet with a season-best time of 1:58.71. Ran his first career steeplechase and had a time of 10:24.91 to place 12th at the Triton Invitational.
BEFORE USC: Attended Loyola Marymount as a freshman. In cross country, he competed in two reaces with a best 8K time of 27.01.3 at the Titan Invitational... In track, he had a 1500m PR of 4:13.59 at the California Collegiate Invitational on Apr. 4. Competed in three meets.
HIGH SCHOOL: Cameron graduated from Damien High in La Verne, Calif. He ran the 1500m race and had a PR of 4:18. He was a four-year varsity letterwinner in cross country and track. He was a two-time cross country team captain and an All-Sierra League selection as a junior and senior. He also captained his track team as a senior and was an All-Sierra League selection his junior and senior years.
PERSONAL: Mitchell was born on Aug. 8, 1996 in Chino, Calif....His parents are Jon and Kate Cameron and he has two sisters, Christi and Kimberly...Many of his hobbies are derived from becoming an Eagle Scout...Volunteered hundreds of hours of community service in high school and continues philanthropic activities around USC...Enjoys high adventure activities such as backpacking, snowboarding and surfing...Enjoys following the stock market and controlling a portfolio with equities from a variety of Fortune 500 companies to small public corporations...He is a Business Administration major at USC.
