Once one of the most dominant players in men[apos]s collegiate water polo, Marko Zagar returns to the pool deck as a volunteer assistant coach. Zagar previously served as an assistant coach to the USC men and women from 1998-2002.
In his three-year Trojan career (1994-96), Zagar scored 152 goals, good for sixth on the school[apos]s all-time list, and a total of 168 points. He earned All-American first team honors in 1996 and second team honors in both 1995 and 1994. He helped USC to second-place national finishes in 1994 and 1996. Other 1996 honors included MPSF Co-Field Player of the Year, All-MPSF first team and All-NCAA Tournament first team.
Zagar, a native of Zagreb, Croatia, played for the Croatian National team in 1993 and the Croatian Junior National team from 1989-93. He also played for the Mladost club team that won four national championships and won the 1990 European Champions Cup. He briefly joined the Croatian army following high school.
Marko earned a bachelor[apos]s degree in May of 1997 and a master[apos]s degree in business taxation in May of 1999, both from USC.
